curRENT NZ
Launching December 2026
Travelling to New Zealand with an eMTB is about to become much easier.
Following a successful first year operating in Canada, curRENT eMTB is expanding its battery rental service to Queenstown, New Zealand. Launching in December 2026, the service allows riders to bring their own eMTB without the hassle and restrictions of flying with lithium-ion batteries.
Based in Queenstown, curRENT eMTB will offer battery rentals for a wide range of popular eMTB systems, giving visiting riders a simple alternative to shipping batteries internationally or renting an unfamiliar bike.
Pre-bookings are now open ahead of the 2026/27 New Zealand riding season.

Taking Pre-Bookings Now
I quickly realized on a recent trip to New Zealand that eMTB's are the perfect bike to travel with. When you have limited time and want to explore as many places as possible, an eMTB is the perfect tool for the job. Before I started traveling with ebikes, there were always rides or places I didn't have the time or energy to do or see on trips. Traveling with an ebike has flipped that, and now I feel like I can get the most out of my travel. With modern eMTBs being so capable, planted and fun to ride they are the true do-it-all bike! Mine took me from smashing park laps to epic adventure XC rides while I traveled New Zealand, and yours can now too!

Meet The Team
Pete
curRENT Founder
The main reason I started curRENT was that I wanted this service when I traveled and no one was offering it. Expanding to New Zealand (and beyond in the future) gives more options for people like me who love to ride and travel. I am stoked to work with my friends to make this happen!
Tom
curRENT NZ
As soon as I saw Pete launched curRENT Canada, I thought “what a great idea!”. Having lived in both Whistler and now Queenstown, I understand the possibilities that E-Bikes give riders when it comes to exploring high altitude landscapes and jam packed riding locations. We quickly started discussing the possibilities of bringing it to NZ
Charlotte
curRENT Developer
As a software developer and passionate mountain biker, it's been great to combine my two interests by helping build the curRENT website and booking system. I love being able to make the process of travelling with an e-bike as easy as possible, so people can spend less time worrying about logistics and more time out on the trails.
